Building a Strong Partnership with Your Customers 

Strong partnerships begin with taking time to guide your customers through their project. Remember, your customer hired you for a reason. They trust you to come up with an innovative solution to help them meet their needs!

The goal is to become a partner with your customers. How do you to this? The best way to build a strong partnership is to learn about your customer’s company and what their specific goals are. Ask them open-ended questions to figure out exactly what they need and what they need help with. Once you do this, you become an educator to them. Create a variety of options to give their brand maximum exposure. A lot of companies don’t know all of the options that are available to them. They call on us as subject matter experts to direct them through the process.

It’s important to be available when your customer needs you. A fast response time goes a long way. If you’re not there to answer customer concerns or if you don’t respond, they are likely to look elsewhere for another resource. Whether or not you have a solution at the time, listen and let them know that you will get back to them timely. Once you understand their concerns, take the time to come up with a solution for them. By continually listening and offering solutions, you will develop strong communication and they will be much more likely to work with you again in the future.

It’s also a good idea to keep in constant contact with your customers. If they haven’t contacted you in a while, make sure you let them know that you are there if they have any current projects that you can assist with. Discuss creative options you’ve come up with for their company. Even if they don’t respond to you right away, they will know that you’re going to be available when they have something that they could use your assistance with.

Another key component to discuss with your customers is the importance of quality. Many customers get hung up on the price of an item, so it’s important to explain to them that price is not the main value. Exceptional service never loses its luster. Ask them what the most important things are to them outside of price. Once they explain what they feel is most important, ask them if it would be worth spending more money with a partner who could help grow their business. Explain that it is worth spending more, in order to get a better experience.

A strong partnership is important regardless of where you are in the industry. At Expand, we try to help you by being as full-service as possible.
